05: How to add ‘New File Menu’?

14 05 2008

One of the biggest difficulties on an Mac OS X that you can not create a new blank file automatically (like a txt file) by right clicking on desktop and selecting ‘New File’ from the menu.

I found a real lifesaver: NuFile! It updates your right click menu and ads a ‘New File’ option to your right click menu. It’s also free.

04: I want to use ‘right click’!

Yep.. You are not wrong! Even there is a menu for almost every item if you right click; there is no right click on your MacBook’s Touchpad. Mac uses single button mouse technology and if you buy an Apple mouse, there is no right click (or i don’t if there is one).

Solution: CTRL+Mouse Click. It will act as right click and open you the necessary menu.

Better solution: Buy a universal USB or Bluetooth mouse (a mouse for a PC). It will work on your MacBook and you will have your right click.

03: Where the hell are the ‘tabs’?

Calm down… There are no tabs in your Mac OS. All program windows just open and use the same upper menu bar. You can simply find out which window is active by checking this upper bar. You can switch between programs or program windows by only directly clicking them or selecting them from the dock because of the lack of tabs.

But this is Mac. Of course there is a simple trick to switch between applications. You can use Command (The button with apple)+Tab (as in PC). But if you want to do it in Mac way, press F9 of your MacBook. It will tile all the open windows on your screen. If you just want to see only the open windows of the same program, then just F10. Cool isn’t it??

By the way, it’s called as: Exposé

02: How to show ‘desktop’?

7 05 2008

My very first trouble: There is no show desktop icon on my screen of OS X!!! :(

Answer: Simply press F11 on your MacBook! :)

Update: I found a great solution to the question how to show desktop on you Mac! Follow the link and download the application ‘show desktop‘. It’s for free! It will add a show desktop button to your dock or on the menu bar according to your preference! Same ’show desktop’ experience like a PC in a Mac style!
